The
Foureaux Society In association
with the LSU Alumni Association, the Boyd Professors are happy to honor
students with a 4.0 grade point average in each of their first two
semesters
with a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester. Each spring a reception
is given at which the students each receive a cash award. These
students
are designated members of the Foureaux Society. (Contact:

2007.
The Foureaux Society met at the Lod Cook Alumni Center Monday 30
April 2007 for the induction of 126 new members. Members are those who
maintained a 4.0 GPA for at least 15 credit hours in their first two
semesters at LSU. Inductees received membership certificates and a
small cash award. One of LSU’s distinguished faculty, Bruce Sharky,
Department of Landscape Architecture, was
the speaker, and he emphasized the importance of study abroad. Sharky
has taken LSU undergraduates to Mexico, China, and several other
countries. The reception following the talk provided an
opportunity for students to have informal discussions with Sharky and
the
Boyd Professors about their careers. The Foureaux Society was created
and named by the late Boyd Professor William H. Patrick in 1996. Cliff
Vannoy, Lindsay Turner, and other members of the staff
of the LSU Alumni Association, and Bradford Edwards, Records and
Registration, helped to make this event a success.

Excellence A
group of 127 students were
recognized
for perfect scholarship as the newest inductees into LSU's Foureaux
Society
during a reception at the Lod Cook Alumni Center April 21. An
honorary
student organization, the Foureaux Society was formed to recognize
sophomores
who maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during their freshman
year at LSU. New inductee Emily Hyfield appreciated the honor.
"It's
great that the university recognizes students for their achievements,"
she said. Hosting the event were LSU's Boyd Professors, those faculty
attaining
the highest profession rank awarded by the university, and the LSU
Alumni
Association [LSUAA]. Dr. William Patrick, Boyd Professor and LSU
Wetland Biogeochemistry Institute Director, initiated
the program in 1996. Each new inductee received a cash award and a
certificate of membership from the LSU AA. Some Foureaux
